The Department for World Service (DWS) is the LWF agency that provides global humanitarian and development services for the benefit of the most marginalized and vulnerable people irrespective of race, sex, creed, nationality, or political conviction.

DWS works in 37 countries in Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America, South and Southeast Asia, and south central Europe. All work starts in response to emergencies at the invitation of local partners. DWS pursues the long-term goals of sustainability, empowerment, advocacy, and capacity building.

DWS works within a network of partners with shared values. Some of these are ecumenical partners, some are humanitarian partners, and some are UN agency partners.
